What happened with her character in the first 2 seasons?
JEN LINDLEY -- An "experienced" girl from New York City living with her Grams and ailing Gramps next door to Dawson. She breaks off a brief relationship with Dawson, yet, when he recognizes his feelings for Joey, it's hard for her to stomach. In Season 2, reeling from her Gramps death and her parents' rejection, Jen plots to win Dawson back. She fails miserably -- sending her into a downward spiral of drinking and guys. When bad-girl sidekick, Abby Morgan, tragically dies and Grams kicks her out, she decides to leave Capeside for good, only to be stopped at the bus station by Jack. Finally Jen and her new best friend Jack move back in with Grams.

~~~~Quotes~~~~
PACEY: Dawson and Mr. Leery both at school, the windows always open -- sheer genius on your part. JEN: Grams always said the ladder was an invitation to sin.
JEN: You can't even cry, can you Mom? Something has been taken away from you. You're numb. And you know what? I think you're grateful for it. No wonder you're afraid of ending up alone. Because the day you are, you're going to have to look inside yourself, and see what I've known for a long time. That there's nothing there.
Jen and Henry, after the "HQ Gala" in the greenhouse…
JEN: Do you know how much will happen to you in the next two years if you do them right? Your heart will swell and break a hundred times before you're sixteen… what you need right now is someone who not only understands what you're going through, but who can also go through it with you. And believe me, Henry, everything you haven't done, I have. HENRY: Except fall in love. You haven't done that or else you'd have someone. But you don't. Which leads me to believe that everything you think you know about love is questionable. And as long as it is, you can't tell me I'm not the one for you. JEN: Something you should know about me, Henry. Something I'm only starting to understand. That until I can learn to look at myself without judgment or condemnation, then you're right: I'm not ready for you. Or for anybody. HENRY: You know what you just said about my heart breaking a hundred times? Well, there goes number one.
Dawson is debating whether to tell Jen what he knows about Eve…
JEN: It's a need-to-know world, Dawson. Sometimes what I don't need to know, I don't want to know. DAWSON: How do you know what you need to know until you know it? JEN: You don't. But once you know it, you can't un-know it. Know what I mean? DAWSON: I know.
* "Then could I manipulate you to coming out with me tonight...??" --Jen
She's got the praying mentality, which is really awkward since I don't do the whole God thing.
Hey, Joey, I love your lipstick...what shade is that?
My body's a mess. I'm too short, my hips do this weird thing, and my face is shaped like a duck. Oh, and I hate my breasts.
Dawson, we've got plenty of time to prove our censors wrong we don't have to make our case today. Alright?
It seems a little sad, really, that I was the girl who's sole purpose was to allow you figure out who you were really in love with.
You know, I use to think it was our mutual feelings for Dawson that kept us apart, I never really considered the fact that maybe you were just a bitch."
* "Isn't this breaking the rules a little??" --Jen
